Flashcard games

Three quick games that turn any deck into practice: race to match pairs, beat the clock on multiple choice, or type the answer from memory. Best scores are saved per deck.

Which flashcard game should you play?

GameWhat it trainsUse it when
MatchFast recognition of term–definition pairsYou just made the deck and want a first pass
BlitzPicking the right answer under time pressureYou mostly know it and want speed before a quiz
Type-ItRecall with no options to lean onThe test has written answers or spelling counts

Recognition (Match, Blitz) is easier than recall (Type-It). That is why a deck can feel “known” in multiple choice and still fall apart on a written test. Finish with Type-It, and read why recall beats recognition to see the difference for yourself.

Questions people ask

Are these flashcard games free?

Yes, all three games are free, run in your browser and need no account.

How many cards do I need?

At least four. Blitz builds each question from the right answer plus three wrong answers taken from the same deck, so decks of ten or more give better questions.

Can I make a matching game from my own terms?

Yes. Make a deck on the flashcard maker page, then choose Match here. Each round picks up to six pairs from your deck.

Do the games work on a phone?

Yes. They are designed for phones first, with large tap targets. Blitz also takes number keys 1 to 4 on a keyboard.
